چکیده
Purpose. Solving the problem of increasing pumping equipment operational lifetime when pumping-out contaminated groundwater in iron-ore industry by extracting hard, abrasive part, using magnetic filters based on permanent ferrite magnets. Methods. To produce spherical hard-magnetic elements that catch finely-dispersed and weakly-magnetic particles industry, barium powder BaО∙6Fe2O3 is applied, which usually used for obtaining ferrites. Spherical filling a filtering installation are obtained method spheroidizing dragee machine. Sintering granules from conducted high-temperature atmospheric electric box furnace. Groundwater pumping and spatial externalities in agriculture
We investigate the behavior of farmers who share an underground aquifer. In the case where seepage may occur the resource is nonexclusive, giving rise to a spatial externality whereby pumping by one user affects others nearby. Theoretically, these externalities are potentially important causes of welfare loss. Using a unique spatial data set of groundwater users in western Kansas, we are able t...

متن کاملComputing optimal pumping strategies for groundwater contaminant plume remediation
Simulation/Optimization (S/0) models can greatly simplify the process of designing remediation systems for contaminated groundwater. We describe some technical aspects of using S/0 models and possible S/0 model formulations for groundwater remediation design. We: discuss some S/0 model optimization algorithms; illustrate simple optimization problem solution; describe two real-world S/0 model ap...
متن کاملA reactor model for pulsed pumping groundwater remediation.
A hybrid in situ bioremediation/pulsed pumping strategy has been developed to cost effectively remediate a carbon tetrachloride plume in Schoolcraft, Michigan. The pulsed pumping system uses a line of alternating injection and extraction wells perpendicular to the direction of natural groundwater flow. The wells pump periodically to clean the recirculation zone between adjacent wells. During th...
متن کاملMegacity pumping and preferential flow threaten groundwater quality
Many of the world's megacities depend on groundwater from geologically complex aquifers that are over-exploited and threatened by contamination. Here, using the example of Dhaka, Bangladesh, we illustrate how interactions between aquifer heterogeneity and groundwater exploitation jeopardize groundwater resources regionally. Groundwater pumping in Dhaka has caused large-scale drawdown that exten...
